Richmond Airport

Richmond International Airport’s vision is to move people, business, and commerce to advance the Richmond region. Nine passenger airlines and four dedicated cargo carriers offer domestic service from Richmond International Airport (RIC) with connecting options to points around the globe. According to the Commonwealth of Virginia, Airport activities create nearly 16,000 jobs and contribute about $2.1 billion in economic activity annually to Virginia’s Capital Region.

Challenge

The airport was interested in not only the air purification effect but being able to monitor air quality in real time and ultimately being able to display this to airport visitors

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, RIC was looking to provide enhanced indoor air quality and monitoring solutions for their patrons and employees.  Phase 1 of the project focused on the security checkpoint areas where crowds of people are often gathered in a relatively confined area.

Solution

One of AtmosAir’s manufacturers’ representatives, Hobbs and Associates, contracted with Richmond Airport to provide air purification and air monitoring for select areas at the airport.

AtmosAir systems with AtmosSmart IAQ monitoring solutions were installed. The AtmosAir remote dashboard was provided which gives them both real time IAQ readings access but also a public view display option with an informational screen that at a glance can inform about the IAQ readings and a QR code to give a brief education on indoor air quality and AtmosAir

In conjunction with Hobbs & Associates, AtmosAir put together a comprehensive solution inclusive of the AtmosAir 508FC system and AtmosSmart intelligent IAQ monitoring system for the (2) Main air handlers serving the security checkpoint zone of the airport. The AtmosAir remote dashboard was provided which gives them both real time IAQ readings access and a public view display option with an informational screen which can be accessed at glance and can inform travelers about the IAQ readings and a QR code to give a brief education on indoor air quality and AtmosAir
