Steve Levine

President & Chief Executive Officer

Steve founded Clean Air Group in 2004 with a commitment to bring products and technologies to market that improve the quality of our environments. With over 30 years of executive experience, industry peers recognize Steve as a thoughtful, innovative leader. He represents the indoor air quality field as industry liaison and Board member of the National Green Energy Council, and contributes leadership expertise to the Central Station Alarm Association and the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association. In addition, Steve has spent the past 17 years serving as Chairman of the Pro Sports Challenge, a fundraising event that has raised over $1,000,000 for individuals with special needs at the Lower Fairfield Center of Norwalk, Conn.

Anthony Abate

Chief Technology Officer

Tony has served as Chief Technology Officer of Clean Air Group since its inception in 2004. He brings significant HVAC, air quality testing and environmental analysis experience to Clean Air Group, including prior experience testing and designing air purification solutions for the US Army, JP Morgan Chase, Norwegian Cruise Lines, school districts, professional sports teams and Fortune 500 companies. Tony is a Certified Mold Inspector and trained IAQ professional, and is a regular member of ASHRAE. He is a published expert on IAQ and bi-polar ionization air purification technology, and has conducted training seminars for HVAC industry leaders such as Trane.

Sam Gumins

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Gumins has served as Chief Operating Officer of Clean Air Group since 2019, where he is responsible for the overall operations and administration of the company.

Previously, Mr. Gumins was a President/CEO/VP with a 25+ year track record of turning, launching and running global businesses across diverse industries, products and services. From turnarounds to startups to longstanding successful businesses, Mr. Gumins has a demonstrated history of growing sales and profitability, and improving operations.

Prior to Clean Air Group, for 14 years Mr. Gumins was President & CEO of Luxo Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of a Norwegian manufacturer of lighting and magnification products. At Luxo, Mr. Gumins created and executed the plan that turned around a 50-year old business losing millions of dollars on declining sales. He doubled sales, grew gross margins, reduced costs, and achieved profitability well ahead of plan.

Previously, Mr. Gumins was a VP at Tranzact, a customer acquisition firm, where he had P&L responsibility for key businesses, key accounts, and strategic marketing channels. Prior to Tranzact, Mr. Gumins co-founded and ran a number of start-ups, including BioNutritional Diagnostics, a veterinary diagnostics and nutraceutical firm. In prior years, Mr. Gumins held Vice President of Marketing roles in such industries and direct marketing, publishing, and aircraft leasing.

Mr. Gumins’ professional experience is complemented by a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Ryan Adler

Executive Vice President of Clean Air Group

Ryan is the Executive Vice President of Clean Air Group, developing and implementing plans for the infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel to accommodate growth and objectives, ensuring that each company department (Finance, Sales & Marketing, and Operations) operates efficiently. Additionally, he spearheads the development, communication, and implementation of effective short-term and long-term growth strategies and processes. His extensive experience includes working directly on a day-to-day basis with the CEO and Senior Management on developing strategy, financial processes, and execution across all business functions, and applying a holistic view of business grounded in hands-on experience in finance, operations, manufacturing, sales & marketing, and other areas of the business.

Previously, Ryan served as an investment professional at Hampstead Park Capital Management, a private equity firm providing long-term capital, strategic, operational, and governance experience to middle market companies. During his tenure, he successfully spearheaded all related structuring and due diligence, negotiations, and support for financial transactions related to Quest Resource; and evaluated and performed valuations on other opportunities. Prior to Hampstead Park Capital, Ryan was a Vice President at Berkery Noyes & Co., a middle market investment bank, leading execution and working closely with privately owned and investor-backed middle market companies on sell-side advisory, buy-side representation, debt, and equity financings across several verticals. Ryan started his career at the Royal Bank of Scotland with 7+ years of Corporate Banking experience advising Fortune 500 multinational Corporations.

Ryan earned an MBA from the SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University and a BA in Economics from Hobart College. Ryan also has many years of philanthropic and executive leadership experience through various Boards roles and was the founder of a non-profit organization.

Jean M. Bakes

CPA, CMA

Controller 

Jean Bakes is a solutions-oriented finance leader with a 25-year history of leading the financial operations of privately held companies. She works closely with senior management and across internal departments to optimize company value, reduce costs, and increase revenue and profitability. She understands that managing corporate financial operations involves making strategic decisions informed by data-driven analysis. Jean leads her team by setting the expectations for carrying out responsibilities with the highest level of integrity and an efficient use of company resources.

Jean’s professional background has spanned Big 4 public accounting, controllership of a lean start-up to its IPO, and controllership of high-growth companies in the e-commerce and manufacturing sectors. She has led a real estate development and brokerage firm as CFO.  In her position as CFO/CEO of a privately held growth company she was able to effectively use her business management, finance, and accounting skills to lead the successful turnaround and sale of the company.

Her passion for mentoring others to achieve their highest abilities has taken her on the additional path as Professor of business and mathematics at various points in her career.  This has served to further enhance her leadership and presentation skills, her ability to assist with positive human capital development, and her ability to communicate technical material to most appropriately address her audience.

Jean is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Finance from Harvard University.  She also holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Columbia University, specializing in business and mathematics education.

As a recent Board member of the Institute of Management Accountants, the worldwide association of accountants and finance professionals in business, Jean served as the Treasurer for the NYC Board, which oversees the largest metro area globally.  As a Board member she spearheaded the campus outreach program for the New York Metro area to educate students on career opportunities available in the private sector.

In her spare time, Jean enjoys traveling, writing, and spending time with her family and two dogs.

Kevin Fahey

Director of Sales

Kevin is an accomplished executive with 30 years of experience leading sales organizations for companies servicing the commercial real estate market. Kevin joined Clean Air Group in 2016 and is currently the Vice President of Sales.  In addition to managing the sales team he supports manufacturers’ representatives and consulting engineers in their design of systems to improve indoor air quality in the built environment.  Prior to joining Clean Air Group Kevin was the Executive Vice-President and General Manager for a New York City-based Design-Build firm, working with architects, engineers and contractors. He also spent 16 years in facilities management where he led a $310 million sales division which accomplished transformative revenue growth under his management.
